I remembered a verse in the Bible where Jesus said that anyone who believes can do the same things that Jesus did. Can you give me any examples of people receiving food from heaven and feeding a crowd? I won't go into "resurrections" or complete healings, as these phenomena can be caused by certain reasons that Christians can attribute to miracles. Have there been any such cases? Although no... Has anyone besides Jesus walked on water? Show me such cases, for example, now that we can document it?
The problem is never a lack of examples. There are millions of examples of Christians doing what Jesus did.
The problem is that people decide beforehand that such things can’t happen, and reject the stories of it happening for no reason other than that they don’t think it should be possible.
If you want to see several examples all clumped together, watch the documentary “Holy Ghost” by Darren Wilson.
Kyle, I pointed out specific miracles, such as bringing down from heaven to earth enough food to feed thousands of people, why can't all the pastors who are on video healing people do that? Why can't they walk on water like Jesus?
I watched this film, and I don’t see anything extraordinary. It consists entirely of personal testimonies of people. I’m not even saying that this is a decree or a recording, to support the Christian faith. But purely logically, it could have been just autosuggestion, for example, in order not to offend the feelings of preachers. I’m talking about the first two cases. For example, in order not to put them in an absurd position, these guys could have given the impression that it really helped them, I would have done the same in life, so as not to offend their hopes and beliefs.
I don’t ask to argue the healing of people, I don’t demand X-rays and magical healing from cancer, but for example such miracles as walking on water, or feeding thousands of people from the sky. Why didn’t any pastor go to Africa, and how didn’t Jesus cause a hail of bread and fish to feed dying children? Why doesn’t any pastor magically turn water into wine on video? Why is that?
Hello Lilithun, if you’ve watched the documentary in full, you have your answer.
You ask, “Why doesn’t….?”
The answer is that the Holy Spirit is CONSTANTLY at work all over the world, in a multitude of ways. The purpose is always singular: to lead people to saving faith in Jesus.
He’ll do whatever He needs to in order to accomplish this, whether healings, or visions, or prophecies, or multiplying food.
What He does NOT do is parlor tricks — like turning water into wine on camera just because. Why not? Because people like you wouldn’t believe it, not in the age of CGI. It would be wasted — accomplishing nothing.
What the Holy Spirit loves to do is work personally — to reach an individual in the way they need to be reached. Often that’s healing, because that’s the most immediate felt need.
Why does He work personally? Because that’s something you’ll believe. You likely won’t believe a video claiming to turn water into wine. But you have a complete ACL tear, and someone prays in Jesus’ Name for healing, and it’s completely healed a day later — that will matter to you. Every time you take a step you’ll be presented with the evidence.
The Holy Spirit has no interest in putting on a show just for the sake of a show. He’s always going after individuals in ways that matter to them.
If you’ve already decided to reject Him, He’ll go after someone else who is open.
Okay. Then why wouldn't any pastor who sincerely believes in Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit record on video (along with a group of some scientists who could confirm these facts) how he walks on water? Could you do it? If you prove that Christianity is true and the Holy Spirit really works, then why don't you prove it to everyone by providing objective evidence? Returning to the fact of feeding a crowd with food from heaven - it will be impossible to fake, since the fact that someone serves food - it will be easy to fix. So why wouldn't any pastor who preaches in the city do this and feed, for example, the homeless in California with food from heaven? I'm not blaming you, I'm just asking why.
