You talked about some promises, I didn't quite understand what that was about. So you're saying that God himself will make a promise? Although I have to ask him for what I want according to your logic. How can he make a promise? Like tell you something?

It's the promises of God that enable us to ask for what we want.

It was Jesus' promise to the disciples in John 14 and 16 that enabled them to ask. Jesus promised them that He would hear their prayers and answer them. This was the group who would lead the church, the group who was totally devoted to Jesus and His mission. As they followed Him, they could believe Jesus' promise that He would hear and answer, and that enabled them to ask.

It's Jesus' promise that God is a good Father that enables us to approach Him constantly with our prayers, never fearing that we'll find Him angry or distant or aloof.

It's God's promise that He can work all things together for good that enable us to pray to Him even in the darkest days, never losing hope that God can work even the worst evil around for good.
