Why does spiritual warfare feel so confusing?
I’ll give you a clue: it’s not an accident.
Christians have an enemy, a devil who wants nothing more than to neutralize us. The devil will do anything to keep us from serving God effectively.
Confusion is one of the devil’s greatest weapons. If Christians don’t know what’s going on, we won’t know what to do.
As a result, spiritual warfare can often be confusing. But don’t let yourself be led astray by that lie. Spiritual warfare is simple. Three key principles undergird everything. If you can grasp these, you’ll be able to resist confusion. These three principles will help you make sense of every spiritual warfare situation.
I’m not presenting this as some random theological rambling.
I’m writing to you from the trenches.
It’s not a bad place to be. I’d rather be where people are hurt, bleeding, and hopeless. God is near to the brokenhearted. When we’re honest about our pain, God is ready to heal.
This book was born in the trenches of spiritual warfare. Every principle in this book came from working with people in the depths of their pain and struggle, only to watch God bring them out.
Currently, I run a ministry with my wife, Cassie, called Swift Hope. For seven years before that, I served as the Pastor for Counseling and Prayer Ministries at New Hope Church in New Hope, MN. Practically, that meant that if you were in your darkest days, you came to see me.
My job is to lead people to Jesus. He is able to heal what no one else can. He is able to bring freedom. He is able to deliver. Jesus is able to give you hope, joy, love, and even peace, in the midst of the darkest moments of life.
Many of these dark moments involve spiritual warfare. Some people will come to see me feeling plagued by a demon that won’t leave. Some report demonic activity in their home, hearing voices, seeing objects move on their own. Others feel trapped in sin. Some wrestle with thoughts telling them to harm themselves, to end things, or to harm others. Some have messed around with demonic or cultic practices in the past and feel haunted and hounded by dark spirits no matter how much they try to leave it all behind.
The more I’ve worked with people in these situations, the more I’ve witnessed the need for simplicity. The more simply we communicated the truth, the more powerfully it connected with people.
God is a God of simplicity. He wants us to understand spiritual warfare.
This book will walk you through three key truths that explain all of spiritual warfare. When you grasp these truths and live them out, you can become untouchable.
God has given us everything we need for victory.
His principles are simple, clear, and powerful.
Let me share with you what I’ve found.
This was the introduction to my book Spiritual Warfare Made Simple. On Wednesday I’ll post Chapter 1, and we’ll continue from there.
I’ll add in a few bonuses along the way — Q&A sessions on the subject matter, relevant posts whose content overlaps, and so on.
You’ll get to read the entirety of the book here on the blog, for free. Analysts might tell me that isn’t the best sales strategy. Why would people buy a book they can read on your blog? Why give it away for free?
The answer is twofold.
First, I want to help the church. The information in this book can truly lead to breakthrough and freedom. I don’t want to hold that back behind a paywall.
Second, if you’re going to invest in a copy of the book, I want you to know it’s worthwhile. If you read the content and find it valuable, you can purchase a copy to have on hand whenever you need it, or to give to a friend. You’ll know what you’re buying, and that it’s worth the cost.
Let me know your thoughts and questions along the way! I want to make this as beneficial to you as possible.
This is going to be fun.
Kyle, this is wonderful and refreshing. I feel like not many people on Substack talk about this stuff. I have indeed experienced intense spiritual warfare and been plagued by demons. Jesus has delivered me from a lot of them and I'm still seeking him for more deliverance. I look forward to reading more of your book!
